Large Serving Tray | Guculiya
For serving hot or cold meals, oven safe
The Guculiya.TINI Collection | Guculiya (or Hustulschyna) is a region in the Carpathian Mountains of Ukraine & the ethnic people of the territory are the Hutsuls. Tini means shadows.
The collection is designed by Danuta Kril and hand-sculpted by potters in Havarechchyna (Гавареччина) Ukraine. The technique of black smoked ceramics originated in this region over 100 years ago. To achieve the black color, wood is burned in the kiln during the firing process - the clay absorbs the smoke resulting in a water-proof black color. No additional pigments are used. This unique technique was almost entirely forgotten, but thanks to designers like Danuta Kril are being revived.
This collection connects us to past generations, combining contemporary minimalist forms with ancient symbols and traditional craftsmanship with modern times.
